Hi, I’m Angela, & I’d like to welcome you to Hoku. I’ve been in practice as a registered acupuncturist since 2002 & am dedicated to helping you heal holistically. I have a diverse background as a pharmacist (recently retired) and alternative medicine practitioner, drawing upon the wisdom of Eastern philosophy, meditation, yoga, & Qi Gong. I invite you to take part in your own unique path to wholeness of body, mind, & spirit.
Wanting to be in a helping profession, I chose to follow in my mother’s foot steps and graduated with a BSc(Pharm) from UBC in 1988. I practised pharmacy for about five years before I started looking for an alternative style of medicine that was hands on and holistic. I wanted to give my patients something safer that also addressed disease from a more natural and deeper level, complementing or even replacing conventional health care. I wanted to help people return to their innate state of contentment.
When I discovered Jin Shin Do(R) acupressure (certified 1998) and Traditional Chinese Medicine (registered 2002) I discovered a whole new passion, and I would like to share it with you. If you are curious about my background, please check out an interview with Angela Berscheid, and my credentials and accomplishments. I am very grateful to all my teachers.
I began my acupuncture practice in the Cowichan Valley and have recently relocated to the Westshore, sharing space with the wonderful massage therapist, Lindsay Buchanan. I now live in East Sooke near the park and am enjoying being back in the big forest near the big waves. I’m happy to be part of such a vibrant community at work and at home.
When it comes to my philosophy of providing health care, I look to Green Tara. She embodies the feminine strengths of great caring and compassion, quickly coming to the aid of those who need her.
